Do you deliver to my address, and how much is delivery?

We currently deliver to San Jose, Saratoga, Los Gatos, and select Peninsula communities up to San Mateo.

San Jose delivery: $10 Saratoga, Los Gatos, and eligible Peninsula delivery: $15

Enter your ZIP code on our homepage to confirm that your address is within our delivery area and see your exact delivery fee before ordering.

When is delivery, and do I need to be home?

Deliveries take place every Wednesday between 12:00 and 6:00 p.m. We cannot guarantee a specific arrival time within that window.

You do not need to be home. Here’s how unattended delivery works:

Before noon, place a clean, empty cooler in a visible location near your front door. Your driver will place the order in the cooler whenever it fits. If no cooler is available, your insulated delivery bag will be placed in a secure, shaded location near your door and kept off the ground. Your order is packed with ice packs to keep it chilled during delivery. The driver will take a delivery-confirmation photo so you can see exactly where the order was left. Please bring the food inside and refrigerate it as soon as possible.

Customers will receive a notification when their delivery has been completed.

Does the food arrive ready to eat, and how do I store and reheat it?

Everything arrives fully prepared, fresh, and chilled—never hot and never frozen. Place all food in the refrigerator as soon as possible after delivery.

Some dishes are ready to enjoy cold, while others can be reheated in the oven, on the stovetop, or in the microwave. Specific storage and reheating instructions are provided on the website for every individual dish, so you’ll know exactly how to store it, how to heat it, and which components should be kept separate or added after reheating.

Follow the use-by and storage information listed for each dish.

Can I make substitutions or order with dietary restrictions?

You may log into your account and update your order any time before the Friday ordering cutoff. You can:

Change your dish selections within the same bundle Swap entrées, sides, or salads for other available choices in that bundle Add breakfasts, desserts, or extra proteins

You cannot request changes to an individual recipe or ask us to remove or substitute specific ingredients.

Every dish lists its ingredients, major allergens, and applicable dietary information. However, all food is prepared in a shared commercial kitchen where common allergens are present. We cannot prevent or guarantee against cross-contact. If you or someone in your household has a severe or life-threatening food allergy, you should not order from Pass the Plate.

What makes your ingredients different?

Convenience shouldn’t mean compromising on the food you bring into your home. We prioritize organic and locally grown produce, grass-fed and finished beef, pasture-raised chicken and eggs, wild-caught seafood, and seed-oil-free ingredients.

We work with farmers and suppliers we know and share where your food comes from whenever possible.

Is Pass the Plate a subscription?

No. There is no subscription or automatic weekly charge. Order a bundle whenever you want Pass the Plate delivered that week. If you don’t place an order, you won’t be charged or receive a delivery.

How long will the food stay fresh, and can I freeze it?

Most dishes are intended to stay fresh for up to 4-5 days after delivery when refrigerated promptly and stored at 41°F or below. Certain dishes may keep longer, and every item includes its own use-by date and storage instructions on the website.

Some dishes can be frozen, while salads and certain fresh components are best enjoyed fresh. Each dish’s instructions will tell you whether freezing is recommended and how to thaw and reheat it safely.

Can I order individual dishes or add-ons without choosing a bundle?

A bundle is required to place an order. After choosing your bundle, you’ll select the included entrées, sides, and salads. You can then add any available breakfasts, desserts, or extra proteins to complete your order.

Individual dishes and add-ons cannot be purchased without a bundle.

How often does the menu change?

Our menu changes regularly with the seasons and ingredient availability. Each menu features a selection of entrées, family-size sides, large salads, breakfasts, desserts, and extra proteins.

Because we prioritize fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farms and trusted suppliers, specific dishes and ingredients may change throughout the year.

What should I do if something is missing, damaged, or not cold when it arrives?

Contact us as soon as possible if an item is missing or damaged, or if your food does not feel properly chilled when it arrives. Include your name, order number, a description of the problem, and a photo when possible.

Do not eat food that arrives warm or that you believe may be unsafe. We’ll review the issue promptly and make it right with an appropriate replacement, credit, or refund.

Can you deliver to an apartment, office, or gated community?

Yes, as long as the driver can safely access the delivery location during the Wednesday delivery window.

Add all necessary gate codes, building instructions, unit numbers, parking information, and drop-off directions to your order. If the driver cannot access the building or delivery location, your order will be left in the safest accessible location available.

Do I need to return the delivery bag, ice packs, or food containers?

No. You are not required to return the insulated delivery bag or ice packs.

If you would like to return them, leave the empty bag and ice packs outside in your usual delivery location before your next Wednesday delivery. Your driver will collect them, and we’ll thoroughly clean and sanitize them before they are reused for a future delivery.

Food containers do not need to be returned. Please reuse or recycle them whenever possible.
